Spiked Hot Chocolate

Ingredients (1 serving)

  • 1 cup whole milk (or half milk / half cream for extra richness)

  • 2 oz semi-sweet chocolate, chopped (or 2 Tbsp cocoa powder + sugar to taste)

  • 1 oz Baileys Irish Cream (creamy + sweet)

  • 1 oz dark rum or bourbon (warmth + depth)

  • ½ tsp vanilla extract

  • Pinch of sea salt

  • Whipped cream, shaved chocolate, or marshmallows for garnish

Instructions

  1. Warm the base: In a small saucepan, heat milk (and cream if using) over medium-low until steaming but not boiling.

  2. Melt in chocolate: Stir in chopped chocolate (or cocoa + sugar) until smooth and velvety.

  3. Add flavor: Stir in vanilla and a tiny pinch of salt.

  4. Spike it: Remove from heat, then add Baileys and rum (or bourbon). Stir gently.

  5. Serve: Pour into a mug, top with whipped cream, marshmallows, or a dusting of cocoa.
